FOR THOSE NEW AROUND HERE...
If we haven’t met before, I’m Joanna.
If we’re friends, I’m usually Jo. If you’re family, I’m probably JoJo. At work, I’m the finance lady who may or may not have raised your quota. And I am the neighbor who plays Pure Heroine by Lorde a little too loudly, with a smoke alarm that goes off a little too often.
I love everything about food — from tasting, to cooking and baking, growing it when I can, learning about it, and most of all sharing it with people I love.
I started baking bread after my brother gave me some of his sourdough starter, which I transported from Long Island back to the Bay. I tested different ratios and recipes, and soon began selling and delivering sourdough loaves across San Francisco. Not too long after, my sourdough granola became an even bigger hit among friends and family.
Originally from Baltimore, I love the Ravens, crab cakes, and east-coast fall, but I think I love the Bay Area more. I moved here for college and haven’t really left, aside from a few stints working on a farm in Maine, but that’s a different story. Nestled between the beach and eucalyptus trees, the Outer Sunset is where I call home.
A BIG THANK YOU
Sour Jo’s has been shaped by a lot of people who encouraged me, challenged me, offered feedback, and helped turn this into something bigger than just baking.
Marisa, thank you for being such an incredible thought partner and for taking the many ideas floating around in my head and turning them into something real. You are a one of a kind person & friend.
Miles, thank you for being one of the first people to make me think about taking this more seriously. You helped turn this from a fun idea into something I actually believed could exist.
Shaina, thank you for never letting me get away with a bad website decision.
Friends, thank you for encouraging me to keep going and for always being my resident taste-testers.
Family, thank you for supporting all my crazy ideas and adventures, and for the alleged excitement around every new update I share.
